Second Amendment
51
I'll keep this one rather short. Several points to start off with.
- In the second amendment, at the time it was written, militia was defined as any able bodied man, between ages 17 and up. Now it is still technically defined as "An army composed of ordinary citizens rather than professional soldiers."
- There are strict laws against the owning of assault rifles, which are defined as a gun that is able to switch from semi automatic to fully automatic, or a gun solely for military use.
- It is unconstitutional to take away the rights of people to protect themselves and their families.
I do not argue that assault rifles should not be banned, not that they are any more dangerous than semi automatics in the hands of a citizen semi trained in the use of firearms. It just is not worth debating over something. Other firearms, that are still available, should remain available. I completely understand that there are families with family members that have died from a firearm. People also die in car crashes and swimming pools. I can guarantee you that you will never, in your lifetime, see either of those things banned, or even regulated.
Please, submit your comments. If you disagree, argue your point. It's your right. Exercise that right here, it's why I'm posting here.
You're right on it. I work in law enforcement. As a matter of fact, one of my units is responsible for all the background checks conducted before an individual can purchase a firearm. I'm a collector myself (I have 42 firearms. Antique and otherwise). It sounds so 'bumper stickerish' but the truth is, guns do not kill people, people do.

I feel that the constitution is being destoy in increments. The second amendment is not immune. We must protect our country from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Those that wish to disarm American citizens are using the media to Sh*t on the second amendment. Kennesaw Georgia should be a case study in favor of pro-guns.
